Another big days travel ahead, 60klm to Wynyard, a larger seaside town to the east of Stanley. We learnt last night that the Wynyard Show is on today, Sunday, and as we need to retrace our route before we can head south, Wynyard got the tick from Gary, Jenny and us. Wynyard sits on the Inglis River which forms a small anchorage for local fishing boats and several yachts. Very pretty at high tide, not so much on the low.
We arrive at the lone caravan park, met by Gary and Jenny who had left earlier, it seems the managers are out for the day so just choose a site, any site, and setup a quick camp. Then it’s up town to the Woolworths and the liquor shop for vital supplies. In the afternoon we settle in for a few beers and a game of Yahtzee with our mates. The weather is a bit rainy, windy and bloody cool.

Wynyard Show, what a hoot, takes Roscoe back to his long-lost childhood (pre-electricty?). There’s all sorts of animal displays, hot-dogs, hamburgers, kids rides, best cakes and scones and a wonderful spectrum of people here to enjoy the day. The sights, sounds and smells ignite the senses, especially the horse manure! A tour of the show, including a hamburger, chews up several hours before a leisurely stroll back to the camp and an afternoon nap!
