Dubbo, 12th February

Now a bit ho hum as we travel a road often travelled by us, and not pretty for much as we continue through scrublands. It is greener, however, much of this region has not received enough rain to banish the drought.

Our road meanders a little through some hilly country towards Gilgandra, 85klm south. Today is no more than a 2 hour drive with no stops and little to report.

Dubbo, our destination to visit old friends, is a major Outback hub with a full range of business, agriculture, medical, government and tourism services. In tourism terms Dubbo is famous for the Taronga Western Plains Zoo, a 300 hectare area with many large enclosures that allow the larger animals (elephants, rhino, buffalo) to roam in a natural envirnonment.

Worth the visit, sure is!
