Our Land of Extremes

Since 2013 we have travelled this wide, vast land experiencing her moods, beauty and heartbreak. 2020 has already provided a mixed bag of all that is good and bad. Severe hot weather came early, rather it was in late 2019, accompanied by strong dry winds bringing dust storms and vast bushfires which combined resulted in a doomsday scenario. Days of thick red haze, impenetrable dust storms from horizon to horizon and smoke so thick that by 4pm it was dark as night.

Finally, in early February came the rains, bucket loads of water with some east coast towns experiencing 300mm downpours in under two hours. The rains are still falling here on the Gold Coast as I write (9th February). Our 7 year drought has broken for much of the country, thankfully!

So it is now the time that we leave to head south to do volunteer work with Australian disaster aid group BlazeAid. We shall once again do several weeks helping farms rebuild their fences and infrastructure after the fires have taken so much. After that? Just stay with us and follow our journey to see how this country rebuilds and communities heal. As well, join us as we embark into our 2020 travels and enjoy the sights, people, activities and scenery of this land.
